Have You Considered Indoor Wind Chimes?

We usually associate wind chimes with the peaceful sound of outdoor bells and tubes, ringing when the wind blows. The idea of installing a wind chime indoors seems a little strange. However, once you think about it for a while, the concept of indoor wind chimes begins to make a lot more sense. Imagine lounging on your favorite chair or sofa, listening to the calming sound of wind chimes playing. The tension will leave your body, and you'll feel refreshed by the pleasant, soothing sounds of indoor wind chimes. Nothing beats the sound of chimes after a long day.

The best indoor wind chimes are usually those that are tube shaped, although some bell shaped chimes will provide a good sound, too. Solid chimes may produce an unpleasant thump, rather than a ringing sound. The pleasant sound we hear when we listen to wind chimes is often made inside the sound chamber of a tube or bell. This means that solid chimes don't produce as pleasant a ringing noise. Outdoors, this is less important, but in a small space, you'll want a chime that sounds good as well as looking good.

When choosing an indoor wind chime, the durability and weather resistance required for outdoor models isn't as important. Instead, good looks and a pleasant sound are first and foremost. It's also important to choose a chime that can be easily moved by small breezes, or which has a powered element that causes it to chime. Otherwise, your wind chimes will refuse to sound. Non powered indoor wind chimes should be made of light materials, so that they'll move easily in the slightest draft. Powered models can be plugged in, may operate on batteries, and even come in models that operate on solar power. These will need to be hung or set near a sunny window to work well.

You don't need to be restricted to traditional models, either. There are plenty of chimes that have been carefully tuned to play a certain type of sound. Some indoor wind chimes are available in Asian themes, to give your home or office the feel of a Zen garden. Other chimes are available from well known illustrators, featuring sculpted versions of the artists' work. Metal is a popular material for indoor wind chimes, but some are available in wood, bamboo, ceramic and glass. There are even some wind chimes made of natural shell. If you're feeling stressed after a long day, consider getting an indoor wind chime. Its soothing sounds will soon help you feel at peace.
